Systems Change Lab SW

Systems Change Lab South West

Helping people, organisations and communities stay connected, creative and capable under pressure.

We believe lasting change happens when people and the systems around them change together.

We work with leaders, organisations and communities to strengthen relationships, rethink structures and create the conditions where people and places can adapt, renew and flourish.

Based in Frome, Somerset, we work locally and globally with those shaping the future of organisations, communities and public life.

Frome is full of initiatives, and we're one part of that web. Some we lead, some we co-create, and many we simply join, listen to or learn from.

01Our vision

The future isn't something we build alone.

We imagine organisations and communities where people come closer when times become difficult. Where trust grows under pressure. Where disagreement becomes a source of learning rather than division. Where people have the capacity to face complexity without becoming overwhelmed by it. Where the health of people, communities and the natural world is understood as deeply connected.

We don't believe anyone has a blueprint for the future. But we do believe we can create the conditions in which wiser futures emerge. That's the work that brings us together.

02Why change is hard

Change is hard. We've felt that in our own work as much as anyone.

Often we focus on the system and forget the people. Or we focus on people and forget the system: the rules, processes, patterns, structures and power that shape what's possible. Neither is enough on its own.

When pressure rises, our biology shapes how we think, relate and act. At the same time, the way things are set up around us shapes what we can actually do.

Strengthening people without changing what surrounds them leaves potential trapped. Changing systems without strengthening people leaves transformation fragile.

Our work sits where those two meet.

04About us

Systems Change Lab South West was founded by Achim, Carla, Joel and Odharnait, here in Frome.

Together we bring experience across local government, community development, peacebuilding, systems thinking, organisational strategy, leadership development, mediation, sustainability and international development.

From Frome Town Council to UN agencies, from neighbourhood initiatives to global organisations, we've learned that lasting change rarely comes from better plans alone. It grows through stronger relationships, wiser systems and the capacity to keep learning together.

When you work with one of us, you work with all of us.

Systems Change Lab South West is registered with The Social Change Nest, our fiscal host.

Let's have a conversation

The future won't be shaped by those with all the answers.

It will be shaped by those who can stay connected, keep learning and respond wisely as the world changes. If that's the kind of work you're interested in, we'd love to have a conversation.
